EPC success stories at Metropolitan Solutions in Berlin
Berlin, 22. Mai 2015 – Population increase in the cities, economic growth, ambitious climate targets, digitisation in all spheres of life – cities and metropolitan areas are facing huge challenges on their way to the Smart City. But how can the energy systems be organised efficiently to help meeting these challenges? This and many other questions were discussed by more than 70 representatives from industry, science, and public administration of Berlin in the event „Smart City in Practice – Efficient Energy use and Energy Services of the Future” in the context of the new fair Metropolitan Solutions.
Achim Neuhäuser, Head of Division at Berliner Energieagentur GmbH (BEA), pointed out, that proven solutions for efficient energy supply and services – such as Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) – offer great potential for the intelligent City of the Future. Christopher Stall, Project Engineer in the ALBA Group, demonstrated how intelligent energy management contributes to the detection of saving potentials, which can be addressed with simple measures. Ulf Bosold, Operations Inspector at the “Niedersächsisches Staatstheaters Hannover” (State Theatre of Lower Saxony) explained, that by changing 75 of the lighting systems in the context of an EPC Project, the related power consumption was reduced by 80 percent.
„Smart City in der Praxis – Effiziente Energienutzung und Energiedienstleistungen der Zukunft“ was commonly organised by Berliner NetzwerkE and the european inititiative EESI 2020.
