ICAEN – Spain

Catalan Energy Institute (ICAEN) is a governmental  entity aimed at the promotion and implementation of initiatives and action programs for research, study and support the activities of knowledge development and application of energy technologies, including: renewable sources, energy saving, energy efficiency and promoting the rational usage of energy in order to achieve the optimal management of energy resources in Catalonia.

Energy efficiency in public and private buildings is considered as one of the majors focus areas in order to achieve the EU 2020 goals and to boost the transition towards a low carbon and competitive economy. Therefore since 2011 ICAEN is developing a Catalan Government public building EPC program facilitating the emergence of a new market with technological and economical capacity to cope the whole building sector on the closer future.

Participating in ESI2020 is key action to underpin this program by means of creating a european network with senior experts on EPC projects promoted by public bodies or public-private partnerships.
